TODAY

• Angel Food delivery is one week earlier this month so Nov. 4 is the last day to place an order. Orders are being taken at the First United Methodist Church, 100 Spring St., on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-noon and Wednesday, Nov. 4, 9 a.m.-noon and 1:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities. The program provides approximately $60 -$70 worth of groceries for $30 and other specials which you are now able to order individually (Fruit and Veggie Box, Meat boxes). The program is open to everyone. Food stamps are accepted. If you have any questions, please call 775-1541.

• The Mighty Ram Band Parent Fundraiser Committee invites all band and color guard parents to a meeting today at 6 p.m. in the high school band hall. Committee will discuss the fall fundraiser and also the annual Christmas party for the band students.

WEDNESDAY

• San Felipe Council 2687 Knights of Columbus will have their business meeting at the KC Hall Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. On the agenda is upcoming Thanksgiving Baskets. Grand Knight LeRoy Pawelek request that all members to please bring names and addresses for baskets. A botana will be served.

• The Creative Writers will meet at the Val Verde County Library from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 4. Writers share their current projects/stories and discuss writing techniques. For information, contact Stacy Jensen at (830) 422-2377.

• All San Felipe High School Class of 71 and 72 members will be meeting every Wednesday effective Nov. 4 during the month of November at 7 p.m. at Skillets Rest. Tickets for fundraiser will be distributed. For more information call Edna Perez at 719-6100 or Soyla Velasquez at 765-4771.

• North Heights Elementary will be holding a Parental Training Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. All parents are invited to attend. Our Guest speaker will be Dr. Sally Z. Barrera, Director of DELA. Topic will be: The New ELD Model 2009 – 2010 School Calendar. Refreshments and door prizes will be provided. Please Come!

THURSDAY

• Books4Lunch’nMore is held at 12:10 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Val Verde County Library. This week we are proud to bring you “Day of the Dead” presented by Lupita De La Paz and Diana Abrego from Casa de la Cultura. They will be discussing this long lasting tradition with books and songs. We hope you can join us for this special presentation.

• Friends of Del Rio Animals monthly meeting will be Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Ramada Inn Sunblossom Room. Visitors and guests welcome.

• The Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce monthly membership meeting is scheduled for Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at La Quinta Inn on Veterans Blvd. Please join us for the installation of our new Chair, Alfonso “Al” Cervantes, and other newly elected officers. • Heart of Del Rio First Friday Art Walk presents an art exhibit by Raul Reyes Nov. 6 at the Casa de la Cultura from 7-9 p.m. Live music by the San Felipe Creep Band. For more information call 768-2287.

SATURDAY

• Miss Val Verde's Annual Princess in Boas Tea Party. Little girls ages 4 - 9 are invited to attend from 2 - 3:30 pm at Plaza del Sol Mall Nov. 7. You must RSVP and you must bring your favorite boa and gloves. This event is free of charge for children only and the goal is to have each girl feel, look and act like a princess for the special tea party. • Southwest Texas Junior College Student Government Association presents C.J. Johnson/comedy hypnotist, Nov. 9, at Gorzugi’s Pub. Doors open at 7 p.m. Must be 21 and over; pre-sale tickets available at SWTJC and Gorzugi’s.

• Operation Patriotic Angels - Adopt A Soldier. What would you do to honor our troops? Queens for a Cause will be conducting a blanket and personal hygiene essentials drive this month ending on Dec 1. If you would like to donate, drop off your donations Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. during the Plaza del Sol Mall Salute To All Veterans program.

• All veterans and military families are invited to a special Salute to all Veterans special program hosted by Plaza del Sol Fashion Board, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. at Plaza del Sol Mall.

• The Upstagers present The Last Night of Ballyhoo Nov. 13, 14, 20, and 21 at 8 p.m. at the Paul Poag Theatre. Discounted tickets are now on sale at Simply Beautiful, Del-Tex RV, The Emporium and Tickets and Tours/LAFB. 2010 Season Tickets will be on sale in the lobby each night.
